fish rectangle dish

These little dishes are handy in the kitchen, and also on your bedside table or your desk.

I like them for bits of this and that  and other odds and ends as much as I like to use them for olive oil or dipping sauces. They make a good butter dish, or a spoon rest as well.

2.5 x 5.5 x .75 inches (6.5 x 14 x 1.5 cm)

I make these dishes by rolling and cutting slabs of porcelain, then pressing them on wooden molds I cut. After they dry a bit, I trim the edges with a wood-working tool and sponge them smooth. I paint them with underglazes when they are bone-dry, then fire them, coat them in clear glaze and give them one last trip through the kiln.

They are safe for food, and fine to put in the dishwasher.
